How do I erase my AirPods?

Published in AirPods Management 2 mins read

To erase your AirPods, you need to remove them from your paired devices. Here's how:

Erasing AirPods from an iPhone or iPad

This process unpairs your AirPods from your device, effectively "erasing" the connection.

  1. Open Settings: On your iPhone or iPad, navigate to the "Settings" app.
  2. Access Bluetooth: Select "Bluetooth" from the Settings menu.
  3. Locate your AirPods: In the list of "My Devices," find your AirPods.
  4. Tap the More Info button: Tap the "i" icon, also known as the "More Info" button, next to your AirPods name.
  5. Forget Device: Tap "Forget This Device".
  6. Confirm: Tap "Forget Device" again to confirm your choice.

Once you complete these steps, your AirPods are no longer paired with the device. The reference confirms this process: "If your AirPods appear in the My Devices list, tap the More Info button next to your AirPods, tap Forget This Device, then tap again to confirm."

Additional Notes:

  • Pairing again: After forgetting the device, you'll need to go through the pairing process again to use your AirPods with that device.
  • Other devices: To "erase" your AirPods from other devices like Macs or Android phones, you will need to forget or unpair your AirPods through the Bluetooth settings on those specific devices. The steps may vary slightly depending on the operating system.
