How do you disable an AirTag?

To disable an AirTag and prevent its owner from tracking its location, simply remove the battery.

Here's how to remove the AirTag's battery:

1. Locate the Battery Cover: On the silver side of the AirTag, find the stainless steel battery cover.
2. Press and Twist: Press down firmly on the cover and rotate it counterclockwise until it stops.
3. Remove the Cover: Carefully lift off the cover.
4. Remove the Battery: The CR2032 coin cell battery will now be exposed. Take the battery out.

Once the battery is removed, the AirTag is effectively disabled. The owner will no longer be able to see its location or receive location updates.
