To kill amoebas in the body, especially those confined to the intestine, specific medications are required. According to available information, the following luminal drugs are effective:
- Iodoquinol (Diquinol and others)
- Paromomycin (Humatin)
- Diloxanide Furoate (Furamide)
These drugs target amoebas and cysts within the intestine. When gastrointestinal symptoms are present, one of these luminal drugs is often used in combination with metronidazole.
