How Do I Delete My Apple Pay History?

Published in Apple Pay Management 2 mins read

While you cannot delete individual transactions from your Apple Pay history, you can effectively clear the transaction overview by removing and then re-adding your Apple Pay card. Your Wallet app typically displays only the last 10 transactions for each card.

Understanding Apple Pay Transaction History

Apple Pay itself doesn't store a comprehensive, long-term transaction history in a way that allows for individual deletion. The Wallet app primarily shows recent activity. For a complete record of your purchases made with Apple Pay, you should always refer to your bank or card issuer's statements.

Steps to Clear Your Apple Pay Transaction Overview

To remove the visible transaction history from your Apple Wallet, you need to remove the associated card and then add it back. This process effectively clears the overview of your last 10 transactions.

Here's how to do it:

  1. Navigate to Settings: Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Access Wallet & Apple Pay: Scroll down and tap on Wallet & Apple Pay.
  3. Select Your Card: Under the "Payment Cards" section, tap on the specific Apple Pay card whose transaction history you wish to clear.
  4. Remove the Card: Scroll to the very bottom of the card details screen.
  5. Confirm Removal: Tap on Remove Card and confirm your choice.

Once the card is removed, all the previous transactions associated with it will be deleted from the Wallet overview. If you wish to continue using Apple Pay with that card, you can add it back immediately.

Why This Method Works

  • Overview Reset: When you remove a card, the Wallet app clears its cached transaction data for that specific card.
  • Fresh Start: Upon re-adding the card, it starts with a fresh transaction history overview, displaying only new transactions as they occur.

Important Note: This method only clears the transaction overview within your Wallet app. It does not delete the actual transaction records maintained by your bank or card issuer. For any discrepancies or detailed transaction information, always consult your financial institution.
