How to do a head bath for babies?

Published in Baby Care 2 mins read

Giving your baby a head bath can be a little nerve-wracking, but it's actually quite simple. Here's how to do it:

  1. Support your baby's head and neck with one hand. This will keep them safe and secure while you wash their hair.
  2. Use your other hand to wash their hair with a small amount of baby shampoo. Be sure to massage their entire scalp gently, including the area over their soft spots.
  3. Rinse their hair completely with clean water.

Here are some additional tips for giving your baby a head bath:

  • Don't worry about getting water in their eyes. Babies are naturally equipped to handle a little water in their eyes. If they do get some water in their eyes, gently wipe it away with a soft cloth.
  • Use a cup or jug to pour water over your baby's head. This will help to rinse the shampoo out of their hair.
  • If your baby is really fussy, you can try using a wet washcloth to clean their scalp instead.
  • Make bath time fun for your baby! Sing songs, play games, and talk to them to keep them entertained.

Remember, you can bathe your baby as often as needed. If your baby has a lot of cradle cap or is particularly messy, you may need to bathe them more often than once a week.
