How to use a nasal bulb?

Published in Baby Care 1 min read

Using a nasal bulb, also known as a bulb syringe or nasal aspirator, is a safe and effective way to remove mucus from your baby's nose. Here's how to do it:

  1. Squeeze the air out of the bulb. This creates a vacuum that will draw the mucus out of your baby's nose.
  2. Gently place the tip of the squeezed bulb into one nostril. Be careful not to insert it too far.
  3. Slowly release the bulb to let the air back into it. This will suction out the mucus.
  4. Squeeze the mucus out of the bulb and onto a tissue.
  5. Repeat steps 2-4 for the other nostril.

Tips for using a nasal bulb:

  • Use saline solution. You can use a nasal saline spray or drops to help loosen the mucus before suctioning.
  • Hold your baby upright. This will help prevent the mucus from going down your baby's throat.
  • Be gentle. Don't force the bulb into your baby's nose.
  • Use a new bulb each time. This will help prevent the spread of germs.

Note: If your baby is experiencing difficulty breathing or has a fever, consult a healthcare professional.
