  • Depressions: These are indentations or hollow areas in the bone surface. They often provide space for other structures, such as blood vessels and nerves, or help form joints. Examples include:

    • Fossae: Shallow, basin-like depressions.
    • Sulci: Grooves or furrows.
    • Foramina: Holes or openings.
    • Meatuses: Canal-like passageways.
    • Sinuses: Cavities within a bone, filled with air and lined with mucous membrane.
