What is Temporal Wasting?

Published in Cosmetic Procedures 1 min read

Temporal wasting, also known as temporal atrophy or temple hollowing, refers to the shrinking of the tissue in the temple area, leading to a hollowed-out appearance.

This loss of volume in the temples can give the head a distinctive, sometimes described as "peanut-shaped," look. While not typically a medical concern, it's often perceived as an aesthetic issue, especially as it can make individuals appear older or less attractive. Women especially may notice a general decline in attractiveness without specifically realizing they have temporal hollowing.

Essentially, temporal wasting describes the physical manifestation of volume loss in the temples, resulting in a visible hollowness.
