What Color Is Pure Rose Water?

Published in Cosmetics 1 min read

Pure rose water should be completely transparent. Any hint of pink or yellow indicates the addition of artificial ingredients, making it not truly pure. The color of the rose petals themselves does not impact the color of the resulting rose water.

True rose water is made by distilling rose petals, which extracts the essential oils and creates a fragrant, colorless liquid. When purchasing rose water, look for the word "distilled" on the packaging or in the ingredients list.

Examples of Pure Rose Water:

  • Chantecaille Pure Rosewater: This product is made with rose water from the South of France and is free of synthetic colors and fragrances.
  • Alteya Organics Bulgarian White Rose Water: This rose water is 100% pure and natural, certified organic, and ethically harvested.

Note: Some brands may use the term "rose hydrosol" instead of "rose water." This refers to the same product - pure, distilled rose water.
