Which tooth is the widest?

Published in Dental Anatomy 1 min read

The permanent maxillary central incisor is the widest tooth mesiodistally in comparison to any other anterior tooth.

This means that when looking at the tooth from the front (labial view), the width of the crown (measured from side to side) is greater than its length (measured from the gum line to the biting edge). This characteristic gives it the appearance of being wider rather than taller compared to other teeth in the front of the mouth.
