Do Baby Teeth Erupt?

Published in Dental Health 1 min read

Yes, baby teeth (also known as primary teeth) do erupt. This is the process where teeth break through the gum line.

During a baby's first year, although they are born with a full set of teeth beneath their gums, these teeth will begin to emerge, or erupt. This eruption process continues until a child has a full set of 20 primary teeth, typically by the age of three. The lower central incisors are usually the first to appear, followed by the upper central incisors. Teething can cause discomfort, with symptoms like increased drooling, irritability, and a desire to chew on objects.
