In which layer will oxygen be found?

Published in Earth's Atmosphere 1 min read

Oxygen can be found in various layers of the Earth, including:

  • The Thermosphere: This layer, extending from 80 to 690 kilometers above the Earth's surface, contains only the lightest gases, with oxygen being one of them.
  • The Stratosphere: This layer, extending from 10 to 50 kilometers above the Earth's surface, contains the ozone layer, where oxygen is crucial for its formation and function.
  • The Troposphere: This layer, extending from the Earth's surface to 10 kilometers above, is where most of the Earth's oxygen is located.

Oxygen can also be found dissolved in water, especially near the surface where it gets replenished by the atmosphere.
