How Do You Apply Clear Eyes?

Published in Eye Drop Application 2 mins read

Applying Clear Eyes, or any eye drop, is a straightforward process. Follow these simple steps for effective and safe application:

Step-by-Step Application

  1. Preparation: Wash your hands thoroughly before handling the eye drops to prevent infection.

  2. Positioning: Tilt your head back and look upwards.

  3. Lower Lid Retraction: Gently pull down your lower eyelid to create a small pouch. This helps the drops to land directly in the eye and minimizes spillage.

  4. Drop Application: Hold the dropper directly above your eye and squeeze one drop into the pouch you've created. Avoid touching the dropper tip to your eye or any surface.

  5. Closure and Gentle Pressure: Look downward and gently close your eyes for one to two minutes. This helps the medication to distribute evenly and prevents it from running out. Gently press on the inner corner of your eye (near your nose) for a few seconds to minimize the chance of the medication entering your tear duct and being absorbed systemically, instead of directly acting on your eye.

  6. Clean-up: Wipe away any excess medication.

Important Considerations

  • Multiple Drops: If your doctor or the instructions prescribe more than one drop, wait a few minutes between applications to allow proper absorption.
  • Multiple Eyes: Repeat steps 2-5 for the other eye if necessary.
  • Contact Lenses: If you wear contact lenses, check the instructions on your eye drops to see if you should remove them before application. Generally, it is recommended to remove contact lenses before applying many eye drops and wait until sufficient time has passed before reinserting them.

After Application

After applying the eye drops, you may experience temporary blurry vision. Avoid driving or operating machinery until your vision is clear.
