Which toe is bigger?

Published in Foot Anatomy 1 min read

The second toe is often bigger than the big toe, a condition commonly called Morton's toe. This happens because the second metatarsal, the long bone in the foot connected to the second toe, is the longest bone in the foot. While it is common for the second toe to protrude further than the big toe, it doesn't necessarily mean it is bigger in terms of width or thickness.

Morton's toe can lead to discomfort, especially when wearing shoes that don't provide adequate space for the toes. It can also contribute to problems like hammertoes, a condition where the toe curls up due to pressure.
