What is Gideon's Disease?

Published in Ganglion cyst 1 min read

Gideon's disease is another name for a ganglion cyst, which is a noncancerous, fluid-filled lump that commonly develops in the hand or wrist. These cysts are also known as synovial cysts or bible cysts due to the historical practice of smashing them with a bible to try and get rid of them.

Ganglion cysts are usually not neoplastic, meaning they are not cancerous. They can occur at any joint but are most common in the hands and wrists.
