How to Add Labels to Your Google Campaign?

Published in Google Ads Management 2 mins read

To add labels to your Google Ads campaigns, you select the desired campaign(s) and use the 'Label' drop-down option that appears in the blue banner.

Labels are a flexible way to organize your campaigns, ad groups, ads, and keywords in Google Ads. They allow you to filter and report on your data more effectively based on criteria you define, such as campaign themes, performance goals, or seasonal promotions.

Here's how you can add labels in your Google Ads account:

Steps to Apply a Label

  1. Navigate to the section containing the items you want to label (e.g., Campaigns, Ad Groups, Ads, or Keywords).
  2. Check the box next to the campaign, ad group, ad, or keyword you want to apply a label to.
  3. Once you've selected one or more items, a blue action bar will appear along the top of the table.
  4. Click the Label drop-down in the blue banner that appears along the top of the table.
  5. From the drop-down, you can:
    • Select an existing label to apply it to the selected items.
    • Remove an existing label by unchecking it.
    • To create a new label, click New label.

Creating a New Label

If you choose to create a new label from the drop-down:

  1. Enter a name for your new label (e.g., "High Priority", "Brand Campaigns Q3", "Seasonal Promo").
  2. Choose a color to help visually distinguish the label.
  3. Add a description (optional) to provide more context about what the label represents.
  4. Click "Create" or "Save".

Once created, the new label will be automatically applied to the items you had selected. You can then use this label across other parts of your account.

Why Use Labels?

Using labels helps you:

  • Organize: Group related campaigns or ad groups together regardless of their structure in the account hierarchy.
  • Filter: Quickly filter your data tables to view only items with specific labels.
  • Report: Use labels to analyze performance across custom-defined groups in your reports.
  • Manage: Apply bulk changes or automations based on labels (e.g., using Rules).

By consistently applying labels, you create a powerful system for managing and analyzing your Google Ads account more efficiently.
