You can change the video quality while you are watching a video preview directly within Google Drive.
Changing Video Playback Quality
Sometimes, when you upload a high-resolution video, like 1080p, the initial preview in Google Drive might appear blurry. This doesn't mean the file itself is low quality, but rather that Google Drive might default to a lower resolution for smoother streaming. Fortunately, you can manually adjust the playback quality during viewing.
Steps to Adjust Video Quality
Follow these steps to change the quality of a video you are previewing in Google Drive:
- Open the video you want to watch in Google Drive.
- While the video is playing, click the gear icon (Settings or Options) that appears on the video player.
- From the menu that appears, tap "Quality".
- Choose the desired resolution (e.g., 1080p) from the available options.
Note: If you upload a 1080p video and find it blurry when previewing it on Google Drive, you can change the Google Drive quality settings by opening the video ▶️ clicking the gear icon ▶️ tapping "Quality" ▶️ choosing 1080p.
Selecting a higher quality setting, such as 1080p if available, should improve the clarity of the video playback if the original file supports it.
