What is Full Colour Hair?

Published in Hair Coloring 1 min read

Full colour hair, also known as a full head colour, refers to a hair colouring technique where a single colour is applied uniformly across the entire head of hair, from the roots to the tips.

This technique is commonly used for:

  • Covering Grey Hair: Using permanent hair colour to completely conceal grey or white strands.

  • Changing Hair Colour: Altering the natural hair colour, either by going darker or lifting the hair several levels. The capacity to lift virgin hair typically extends up to three levels when utilizing permanent colour.

  • Enhancing Tone and Shine: Using semi-permanent colour to deepen the existing shade, adjust the tone (e.g., adding warmth or coolness), and boost the overall shine of the hair. Semi-permanent options are often chosen when a less dramatic and less permanent change is desired.

Essentially, full colour hair achieves a solid, consistent colour throughout the entire head, unlike highlighting or balayage which involve multiple colours or strategic placement. It provides a uniform canvas for the chosen shade.
