Why Are Brutes So Strong?

Published in Halo Species Physiology 2 mins read

Brutes, formally known as Jiralhanae, are renowned for their formidable strength primarily due to their natural, inherent physical durability and resilience. Unlike many other combatants who rely on advanced technology like energy shielding or extensive armor plating, Brutes possess a robust biological makeup that allows them to absorb and withstand immense amounts of damage.

Their impressive physical prowess is a result of several key biological attributes:

  • Exceptional Natural Durability: Brutes are naturally hardy creatures. Their tough hide and dense musculature enable them to endure significant impacts and direct attacks that would incapacitate or kill most other species. This innate toughness means they don't require the same level of technological protection, making their natural resilience a primary asset in combat.
  • High Damage Absorption: They are capable of absorbing large volumes of diverse weaponry. This includes both high-velocity ballistic fire, such as rounds from assault rifles or machine guns, and concentrated plasma discharges. Their bodies are remarkably adept at withstanding sustained barrages, allowing them to close distances or maintain positions even under heavy fire.
  • Resistance to Explosive Weaponry: Beyond conventional gunfire, Brutes also demonstrate a surprising ability to shrug off certain explosive weaponry. While direct hits from powerful ordnance are still lethal, they can often endure proximity blasts or smaller explosive devices that would typically dismember or fatally wound less durable opponents.

This combination of natural strength, high damage absorption, and resistance to various forms of attack makes Brutes exceptionally strong and a significant threat on the battlefield, allowing them to compensate for their often less technologically advanced equipment.
