- The Quickening: This is an innate energy or life force that an individual is born with, marking them as a potential immortal. Not everyone possesses the Quickening, making true Immortals quite rare. It is an internal power that grants them extraordinary abilities and resistance to aging.
- The First Death: For an individual born with the Quickening, true immortality and agelessness only manifest after they experience their "First Death." This is always a premature and violent demise.
