Is Japan or Korea Older?

Published in History and Civilization 1 min read

Korea is older than Japan when considering the formation of their first organized states.

While both Japan and Korea boast rich histories and cultures, the establishment of organized states occurred earlier on the Korean peninsula. Gojoseon, considered the first Korean state, emerged around 195 BC. In contrast, Japan's emergence as a unified state is generally marked by the creation of its first constitution in 604 AD.

Therefore, based on the timeline of state formation, Korea has an earlier claim.
