Whether going to a hammam (bathhouse) is permissible in Islam depends on certain conditions, particularly regarding gender and modesty.
Based on the hadith: "You will conquer the lands of the non-Arabs, where you will find houses called Hammamat (bathhouses). Men Should only enter them wearing a waist wrap, and do not let women enter them unless they are sick or bleeding following childbirth." (Transmitted by Abu Dawoud), the following points can be derived:
- For Men: Men are allowed to enter hammams, but they must be covered with a waist wrap to maintain modesty.
- For Women: Generally, women are not allowed to enter hammams unless they have specific reasons such as illness or post-childbirth bleeding.
Therefore, going to hammam is conditionally permissible in Islam with emphasis on gender and modesty.
