Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) would perform wudu before going to bed. This act is considered a Sunnah, a practice recommended by the Prophet, and is not only hygienic but also has spiritual benefits. It is advised to perform wudu as one would for prayer, then lie down on the right side.
Here are some additional things the Prophet would do before sleeping:
- Recite the last two verses of Surah Baqarah: This is a common practice among Muslims.
- Dust the bed three times: This is a Sunnah that is believed to ward off evil spirits.
- Recite Subhanallah, Alhamdulillah, and Allahu Akbar thirty times: This is a dhikr, or remembrance of Allah, that is recommended before bed.
- Recite certain duas: There are several duas, or supplications, that are specifically recommended to be recited before sleeping.
- Sleep on the right side: This is a Sunnah that is believed to be more comfortable and healthier.
The Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) practices before sleep are a reminder to us that even in our daily routines, we can find ways to connect with Allah and seek His blessings.
