How do you put ring earrings in?

Published in Jewelry Basics 2 mins read

Putting in ring earrings, especially small hoops, can be a bit fiddly, but here's how to do it:

  1. Prepare your earring: Make sure the earring is clean. Also, identify the post (the part that goes through your ear) and the clasp or closure mechanism.

  2. Position the earring: Hold the earring with one hand, and with the other hand, gently pull down on your earlobe to straighten the piercing hole.

  3. Insert the post: Carefully insert the post of the earring through the piercing hole from the front.

  4. Secure the clasp:

    • For endless hoops: Gently rotate the ends of the earring until they meet and securely click together. If you're having trouble aligning the ends, you can use needle-nose pliers or tweezers to carefully guide them together, as mentioned in the reference video.
    • For hinged hoops: Insert the post into the designated hole on the other side of the hoop, and close the hinge until it clicks.
    • For hoops with a butterfly clasp: Push the post through your ear and secure with the butterfly clasp on the back of your ear.
  5. Check for comfort: Ensure the earring is comfortable and not pinching your earlobe. If it feels uncomfortable, gently adjust it.

Putting in ring earrings involves carefully inserting the post through your ear piercing and securely closing the clasp, whether it's an endless hoop, hinged hoop, or one with a butterfly clasp.
