Published in Korean Religion 1 min read

While South Korea doesn't have a state religion, the most prevalent affiliations are No Religion, Buddhism, and Christianity.

According to a 2023 Korea Research survey, the religious landscape breaks down as follows:

  • No Religion: 61% of the population identify with no religion.
  • Buddhism: 17% of the population identifies as Buddhist.
  • Christianity: 20% of the population identifies as Christian. This is further divided into Protestantism (15%) and Catholicism (5%).
  • Other Religions: 2% of the population identifies with other religions.

Therefore, "religion in Korea" is a diverse picture, with a significant portion of the population not identifying with any particular faith. The remaining population is largely split between Buddhism and Christianity.
