How to Center a Lazy Susan?

Published in Lazy Susan Installation 2 mins read

To center a Lazy Susan, you need to correctly position the hardware on the turntable before installation. This ensures the mechanism rotates smoothly and is balanced.

Steps to Center Lazy Susan Hardware

Centering the rotating hardware, often called the swivel base or bearing, is a crucial step for proper function. Here’s how to do it effectively:

  1. Prepare the Turntable: Lay the Lazy Susan turntable flat on a stable surface.
  2. Position the Hardware: Place the Lazy Susan hardware directly in the center of the turntable.
  3. Check for Equal Distance: Ensure the hardware is the same distance from the edges of the turntable.
  4. Verify at Multiple Points: To confirm perfect centering, check this equal distance at a minimum of 4 points around the circumference of the hardware relative to the turntable edge. This helps account for any minor imperfections in the turntable shape.
  5. Mark Mounting Holes: Once the hardware is correctly positioned, mark the points on the turntable that line up precisely with the mounting holes in the hardware. These marks will guide you when attaching the hardware securely.

By following these steps, you establish the precise central point for the hardware, which is essential for the Lazy Susan to spin correctly and remain stable.

After marking the holes, you can then proceed to drill pilot holes (if necessary and recommended by the hardware instructions) and attach the hardware using appropriate screws or fasteners.
