To wipe your Lenovo Pad and perform a factory reset, follow these steps:
- Swipe down from the top right of the screen to access the Quick Settings panel.
- Tap the Settings icon (usually a gear or cogwheel).
- Scroll down and tap on System. This may also be labelled as "General Management" on some older devices.
- Tap Reset options.
- Tap Erase all data (factory reset). This option completely removes all your personal data, apps, and settings from the tablet's internal storage.
- Tap ERASE ALL DATA. You might need to scroll down to find this button.
- Tap Erase all data again to confirm. This action will initiate the wiping process. Be absolutely certain you want to do this, as it is irreversible without a backup.
- Wait. The tablet will now erase all data and restore the factory default settings. This process may take several minutes. Do not interrupt it. Once complete, your Lenovo Pad will restart and present you with the initial setup screen.
Important Considerations Before Wiping:
- Back Up Your Data: Before performing a factory reset, back up all important data, including photos, videos, documents, and contacts, to a cloud service (like Google Drive or OneDrive) or an external storage device. This process will permanently delete all data on the device if you don't back it up.
- Google Account: Be aware that you'll need your Google account credentials (username and password) to set up the device after the reset if you had previously linked a Google account. Factory Reset Protection (FRP) is a security feature that requires you to sign in with the previously used Google account to prevent unauthorized access.
- Battery Life: Ensure that your Lenovo Pad has sufficient battery life (ideally, more than 50%) or is connected to a charger during the factory reset process to prevent interruptions. An interruption can lead to corrupted data and software issues.
- External Storage: If you have a microSD card inserted, you may be given the option to erase that as well. Decide if you want to wipe this or keep it separate for use after the reset.
