Published in Medical Examination 1 min read

A bulge test, also known as the bulge sign, is a physical examination technique used to detect minor effusions (fluid buildup) in the knee joint. It involves observing for a fluid wave or bulge in the medial recess of the knee when pressure is applied to the lateral side of the knee. The presence of a bulge suggests fluid is present, indicating an effusion. The test is scored as either present or absent.
