What is the Currie formula?

Published in Medical Nutrition 1 min read

The Currie formula, also known as the Curreri formula, is used to estimate the daily caloric requirements for burn patients. It differs for adults and children.

  • Adults: 25 kcal/kg + (40 kcal x % total body surface area burned (%TBSA))
  • Children: 60 kcal/kg + (35 kcal x % TBSA)

This formula helps healthcare professionals determine the appropriate caloric intake to support healing and recovery in burn patients.
