How Do You Use Fork Support?

Published in Motorcycle Maintenance 1 min read

Fork support, often called a fork saver or fork brace, is used primarily to protect your motorcycle's fork seals during transportation. It limits the amount of compression on the seals, preventing damage.

Here's how you use fork support:

  1. Placement: Insert the fork support between the front fender and the front tire. It essentially acts as a spacer.
  2. Purpose: When you tie down your motorcycle for transport, the tie-downs compress the front forks. The fork support prevents the forks from compressing too much.
  3. Benefit: This reduces the stress on the fork seals, preventing them from leaking or becoming damaged during transport. Extreme compression from tie-downs can lead to seal failure.
  4. Additional Benefits: Limits compression on the seals and prevents them from going through extreme use.
