Laufey's comprehensive musical background provided a strong foundation for her vocal talents. Her journey in music began at a very young age, with piano lessons starting when she was four years old, and she later picked up the cello at the age of eight.
Her formal training in singing was undertaken at the Reykjavík College of Music. She dedicated her studies there to vocal performance and graduated in 2018. Following her time in Reykjavík, she continued to advance her musical education by attending Boston's prestigious Berklee College of Music, where she graduated in 2021 with a presidential scholarship. While her time at Berklee further honed her overall musicianship, her direct study of singing is specifically noted from her period at Reykjavík College.
