How to Use Nasal Strips
Using nasal strips is simple and can provide relief from nasal congestion. Here's a step-by-step guide:
- Cleanse Your Nose: Wash and thoroughly dry your nose. Oil, moisture, or dirt will prevent the adhesive from sticking properly (Reference 1).
Application:
-
Size and Placement: Select the appropriately sized strip. Position the adhesive side of the strip directly above the area where your nostrils flare out (References 2 & 3, Amazon). This is typically the widest part of your nose bridge. The tabs should rest at the start of the flare (Amazon).
-
Secure the Strip: Gently press the strip firmly onto your nose, ensuring good contact across the entire surface. Rub the strip to secure it in place (References 6 & 7).
Usage and Removal:
-
Enjoy Improved Breathing: The strip will help widen your nostrils, improving airflow (Sleep Foundation, South Florida Sinus & Allergy).
-
Removal: Remove the strip gently when you're ready. It's often easier to remove it after wetting the strip (Amazon JERN).
Additional Tips:
- Timing: Wear the strip while sleeping (Myospots) or as needed for relief from nasal congestion due to colds, allergies, or a deviated septum (Breathe Right).
- Combining with Other Treatments: You may get better results combining nasal strips with other treatments, such as lip tape (Myospots).
