Before it became the popular Academy LA, the renowned Hollywood venue had a history of different names, evolving over time from its original identity.
The entertainment venue, now a cornerstone of Los Angeles nightlife, underwent several transformations throughout its existence. It was originally known as Qtopia. Following this initial phase, the space operated under the name Vanguard, and later, it transitioned to being called Create. In late 2017, the venue entered its current era when Insomniac collaborated with Exchange LA to re-envision and launch the space as Academy LA.
The chronological progression of the venue's names is as follows:
- Qtopia
- Vanguard
- Create
- Academy LA (from late 2017 onwards)
Today, Academy LA is recognized as a premier destination for electronic music events and live performances, building upon the legacy established by its previous incarnations.
