How to Use Liquid Eraser?

Published in Office Supplies 2 mins read

Liquid eraser, also known as correction fluid, is used to neatly cover up mistakes on paper. The key is to apply it thinly and allow it to dry completely before writing over it.

Here's a general guide based on common usage:

  1. Shake Well: Before opening, thoroughly shake the bottle of liquid eraser. This ensures the pigments and solvents are properly mixed for even coverage.

  2. Apply Thinly: Use the applicator brush (usually attached to the cap) to dab a small amount of liquid eraser onto the area you want to correct. Avoid applying too much, as thick layers take longer to dry and can crack or peel. A thin, even layer provides the best results.

  3. Allow to Dry: Let the liquid eraser dry completely before writing or typing over it. According to the reference, this only takes a few seconds. You can test dryness by gently touching the surface – if it's no longer tacky, it's ready.

  4. Write Over: Once the correction fluid is completely dry, you can write or type over the corrected area.

  5. Clean Applicator: After use, wipe any excess correction fluid from the applicator brush on the inside of the bottle's neck to prevent it from drying and clogging. Secure the cap tightly.

Key Considerations:

  • Ventilation: Use liquid eraser in a well-ventilated area.
  • Storage: Store the bottle upright and tightly closed to prevent drying out.
  • Alternatives: For larger areas or thicker paper, consider using correction tape for a smoother finish and immediate write-over capability.
