Do teeth feel pain?

Published in Oral Health 1 min read

Yes, teeth can feel pain. The nerves in the pulp, the soft center of a tooth, are responsible for transmitting pain signals to the brain. These nerves are connected to the outside world through tiny tubules called dentinal tubules, which run through the dentin, the layer of tissue beneath the enamel. When something stimulates these tubules, such as hot, cold, or sugary foods, the nerves are triggered, and you feel pain.

While teeth don't have pain receptors like skin, the nerves in the pulp are sensitive to various stimuli, and they can be easily irritated, resulting in pain.
