How Does Air Have Mass?

Published in Physics of Air 1 min read

Air has mass because it is composed of particles (molecules and atoms) that have mass.

The YouTube video "How to show the air has mass" demonstrates this principle through a simple experiment:

  • A balanced stick with two balloons attached.
  • One balloon is inflated, and the other is not.
  • The inflated balloon tips the balance downward, showing that the air inside the balloon adds weight/mass.

This experiment visibly proves that air has mass and therefore weight, as stated in the video: "We will see that the blown up balloon tips the balance downward thus proving that air has weight Mass Try."
