How Do You Install a PVC Compression Coupling?

Published in Plumbing Installation 1 min read

Installing a PVC compression coupling involves a straightforward process of securing the pipe ends within the coupling using nuts and rubber gaskets. Here's a breakdown:

  1. Slip the Nuts On: Slide the coupling nuts onto both pipe ends that you intend to join. Make sure the threads are facing outward, away from the cut ends.
  2. Add the Rubber Gaskets: Place the rubber gaskets onto the pipe ends, ensuring they fit snugly. The gaskets should cling to the pipe.
  3. Fit the Coupler: Position the compression coupling between the two pipe ends, seating the pipe ends into the coupling. Ensure that the pipe is properly seated and aligned within the coupling.
  4. Tighten the Nuts: Screw the nuts onto the coupling threads, tightening them securely by hand. This compresses the rubber gaskets, creating a watertight seal.
