How Do I Select All the Layers in Procreate?

Published in Procreate Layers 2 mins read

To select all layers in Procreate, you utilize the same method used for selecting multiple layers. While there isn't a single "Select All" button, the process is quick and allows you to select every layer in your canvas for actions like grouping, moving, or transforming.

Here’s the straightforward method based on accessing the Layers panel:

Steps to Select Multiple (or All) Layers

Follow these steps within your Procreate canvas to select layers:

  1. Access the Layers Panel: Just go to layers. This opens the Layers panel, showing all the individual layers in your artwork.
  2. Select the First Layer: Tap one of the layers you want to select. This will highlight the first layer in blue.
  3. Select Additional Layers: Then slide your finger to the right on the other layers you want together. As you slide your finger across each subsequent layer name (not the thumbnail), that layer will also become highlighted in blue, indicating it is selected.
  • To select ALL layers: Simply continue the action from Step 3, sliding your finger to the right on every remaining layer in the panel. By doing this for all layers, you effectively select them all.

Why Select All Layers?

Selecting multiple or all layers is useful for various actions in Procreate, such as:

  • Grouping: Combine selected layers into a single group for better organization.
  • Transforming: Move, scale, or rotate all selected layers simultaneously.
  • Copying/Pasting: Duplicate or transfer the content of all selected layers.
  • Deleting: Remove all selected layers at once.

This simple gesture in the Layers panel provides flexible control over how you manage and manipulate your artwork's components.
