How Do You Dry Kinetic Sand?

Published in Sand Drying 2 mins read

Kinetic sand's texture is sensitive to humidity and water content. If your kinetic sand is wet, simply air dry it until it regains its normal texture. The process may be sped up by ensuring good air circulation around the sand. For overly dry kinetic sand, a few drops of water, added using an eyedropper and thoroughly mixed, will restore its playability. Remember that kinetic sand does not actually "dry out" in the sense of becoming dehydrated but is rather affected by environmental humidity.

Addressing Specific Scenarios

  • Wet Kinetic Sand: Air drying is the primary solution. Place the wet sand in a well-ventilated area and allow it to air dry completely. The time required will depend on the amount of moisture present and environmental factors.

  • Overly Dry Kinetic Sand: A few drops of water, precisely measured with an eyedropper, should be added to the sand. Thorough mixing is essential to ensure even moisture distribution. Avoid adding too much water at once; it's better to add small amounts incrementally until the desired texture is achieved.

  • Maintaining Optimal Kinetic Sand Texture: Kinetic Sand™ will return to its normal texture at 60% humidity. Keeping the sand in an airtight container can help to regulate moisture levels. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions for further guidance.

Why Kinetic Sand Gets Wet or Dry

Kinetic sand's texture is affected by the surrounding humidity. In dry environments, it might appear dry, while high humidity can make it seem too wet. Storing it properly can mitigate these issues.
