You can directly import a local Revit file (.rvt) into SketchUp Pro using the built-in import function.
Importing a Local Revit File (.rvt)
If your Revit file is saved on your local computer, the process for importing it into SketchUp Pro is straightforward. SketchUp Pro supports the direct import of .rvt
files.
Here are the steps to follow:
- Ensure File is Local: Make sure the Revit file (
.rvt
) you wish to import is saved locally on your computer or a network drive accessible from your computer. - Open SketchUp Pro: Launch the SketchUp Pro application.
- Access Import Function: Go to the top menu bar and click on File.
- Select Import: From the dropdown menu that appears, select the Import... option. This will open a file manager window.
- Choose File Type: In the file manager window, you will see options for various file types in a dropdown menu. Look for and select Revit File (*.rvt) from the list of supported files.
- Locate and Select File: Navigate through your file system to find the location where your
.rvt
file is saved. Select the specific Revit file you want to import. - Begin Import: Click the Import button.
SketchUp Pro will then process the Revit file and import its geometry into your current SketchUp model. The time this takes will depend on the size and complexity of the Revit model.
Reference Information: As detailed in the import documentation, "If the rvt file is saved locally, import the file in SketchUp by clicking File Import. In the File Manager you will see Revit File (*. rvt) listed as an option in the list of supported files. Select a file and click Import."
