What are both layers of skin?

Published in Skin Anatomy 1 min read

The two main layers of skin are the epidermis and the dermis. The epidermis is the outermost layer of skin, providing a waterproof barrier and contributing to skin tone. The dermis lies beneath the epidermis and is responsible for providing strength and flexibility to the skin. It also contains blood vessels, nerves, hair follicles, and sweat glands.

The hypodermis, also known as the subcutaneous layer, is the deepest layer of skin. However, it is not technically considered part of the skin itself.
