Why I am so oily?

Published in Skincare 1 min read

Oily skin is a common skin type, and it occurs when your skin's sebaceous glands produce excess sebum, the waxy substance that helps seal in moisture. There are several factors that can contribute to oily skin, including:

  • Genetics: You may be predisposed to oily skin if your family members have it.
  • Hormones: Fluctuations in hormones, particularly during puberty, pregnancy, and menopause, can trigger increased sebum production.
  • Weather: Hot and humid weather can stimulate sebum production.
  • Stress: When you're stressed, your body releases hormones that can also lead to excess oil production.
  • Diet: A diet high in fatty foods and processed foods can contribute to oily skin.
  • Using overly aggressive cleansers: Harsh cleansers can strip your skin of its natural oils, causing it to overcompensate by producing even more oil.

While oily skin is generally not a serious health concern, it can be frustrating and lead to blemishes. If you're concerned about your oily skin, consult a dermatologist for personalized advice and treatment options.
