You can turn off audio description on Sky Q using your remote control.

Easily Disable Audio Description on Sky Q

Audio description (AD) provides narration about what is happening visually on screen for viewers who are blind or partially sighted. If you have this feature enabled and wish to turn it off, the process is straightforward using your Sky Q remote. The steps are slightly different depending on whether you have the standard remote or the Accessibility remote.

Here’s how to switch off audio description:

  • Using the Standard Sky Q Remote:

    1. Locate the ? (question mark) button on your remote. It is situated to the right of the number zero.
    2. Press the ? button. This will bring up an accessibility menu on your screen.
    3. Within this menu, find the option for Audio Description.
    4. Press the Select button to toggle the audio description setting. Pressing it will change the status from On to Off.
    5. Once audio description is turned off, press the Dismiss button to close the menu. The Dismiss button is located to the left of the Home button, which is directly below the down arrow on your remote.
  • Using the Sky Q Accessibility Remote:

    1. Find the dedicated AD button on your Accessibility remote.
    2. Press the AD button. This will also bring up the accessibility menu or a direct toggle option.
    3. Press the Select button to change the audio description status from On to Off.
    4. Press the Dismiss button to exit the menu.

Turning off audio description using these steps will immediately stop the narration on the program you are currently watching and for subsequent programs until you choose to turn it back on.
