How Do I Turn Off Audio Description on Sky?

Published in Sky Q Accessibility 2 mins read

You can easily turn off audio description on your Sky Q box using your remote control.

Audio Description (AD) provides narration of key visual elements on screen for those who are blind or partially sighted. If you have this feature enabled and wish to turn it off, the process is straightforward using your Sky Q remote.

Steps to Disable Audio Description on Sky Q

The method to turn off audio description depends slightly on the type of Sky Q remote you are using.

Here are the steps:

  1. Locate the Audio Description Menu Button:
    • On the standard Sky Q remote, press the ? (question mark) button. This button is located to the right of the number zero (0).
    • If you are using the Sky Q Accessibility remote, press the dedicated AD button.
  2. Open the Menu: Pressing either the ? or AD button will bring up the Audio Description options menu on your screen.
  3. Toggle Audio Description: Navigate to the option for Audio Description (it will likely show its current status, either On or Off). Press the Select button (the large button in the center of the directional arrows) to toggle the setting. If it is currently "On", pressing Select will change it to "Off".
  4. Close the Menu: Once you have changed the setting, press the Dismiss button to remove the on-screen menu. The Dismiss button is located to the left of the Home button (which is directly below the down arrow).

By following these steps, you can quickly turn off audio description and continue watching your content without the additional narration.
