What causes stress?

Stress is our body's response to pressure. It's how we react to mental or emotional pressure. Many different situations or life events can cause stress. Stress is often triggered when we experience something new or demanding, or when we feel like we're losing control over something.

Here are some common causes of stress:

  • Work: Feeling pressured at work, unemployment, or retirement.
  • Family: Relationship difficulties, divorce, or caring for someone.
  • Financial Problems: Unexpected bills or borrowing money.
  • Major Life Changes: Getting married or divorced, starting a new job, the death of a spouse or close family member, getting laid off, retiring, or having a baby.

These are just a few examples, and everyone experiences stress differently. What causes one person to feel stressed might not affect another person in the same way.
