You cannot summon the Eater of Worlds if you are not within a Corruption biome. This boss can only be summoned within the Corruption, regardless of the summoning method you choose to use.
Essential Biome Requirement
The primary reason you might be unable to summon the Eater of Worlds is that you are not in its native environment. Unlike some other bosses, the Eater of Worlds is intrinsically tied to the world's Corruption biome. Attempting to use its summoning items anywhere else will simply not work.
To successfully summon this boss, ensure you are deep within the purple-hued, chasmic landscape of the Corruption. This includes the surface, underground, and cavern layers of the Corruption.
How to Summon the Eater of Worlds
Once you are in the Corruption, there are two primary ways to summon the Eater of Worlds:

Destroying Shadow Orbs:
- Shadow Orbs are glowing purple orbs found deep within the chasms of the Corruption.
- You need a powerful pickaxe, explosives, or a Nightmare Pickaxe (or better) to break them.
- Breaking the third Shadow Orb will automatically summon the Eater of Worlds. Be prepared for a fight immediately after.
- Note: Breaking subsequent Shadow Orbs (6th, 9th, etc.) will also summon the boss.

Using a Worm Food:
- Worm Food is a consumable item specifically designed to summon the Eater of Worlds.
- It requires the following crafting ingredients at a Demon Altar or Crimson Altar (if your world has Corruption):
- 30 Vile Powder (crafted from Mushrooms and Corrupt Seeds)
- 15 Rotten Chunks (dropped by enemies in the Corruption)
- Simply use the Worm Food item while standing anywhere within the Corruption biome.
