A tick bite lesion can be called a tick bite granuloma.
Over time, sometimes spanning months, a tick bite can evolve into a granuloma. This manifests as a small nodule, typically ranging from 0.5 to 2 cm in size. Microscopic examination reveals that this nodule is composed of a mixture of inflammatory cells reacting to the persistent presence of tick saliva or mouthparts.
Additionally, although rare, tick bites can occasionally lead to hair loss, technically referred to as alopecia, at the site of the bite. This hair loss may be temporary, resolving within a few months, or, in some cases, can be permanent.
