TB, or Tuberculosis, starts when a person breathes in Mycobacterium tuberculosis bacteria.
The Beginning of a TB Infection
Tuberculosis (TB) is caused by a bacterium (or germ) called Mycobacterium tuberculosis. According to the reference, here's how it happens:
- Inhalation: The process begins when a person inhales air containing TB germs.
- Lung Settlement: These germs then settle in the lungs.
- Bacterial Growth: Once in the lungs, the Mycobacterium tuberculosis begins to grow and multiply.
- Spread Through the Body: The bacteria can then spread through the bloodstream to other parts of the body, including the kidneys, spine, and brain.
