- Askeladd's Contract: To carry out the assassination, Floki conspired with Askeladd, the shrewd leader of a band of a hundred Vikings. Askeladd agreed to the task, demanding double the initial payment to kill Thors and his crew. The ambush was orchestrated to take place upon their arrival in the Faroe Islands, where Thors believed he was simply escorting merchants.
