To send videos without losing too much quality on WhatsApp, use the HD quality setting.
Here's how:
- Open an individual or group chat within WhatsApp.
- Tap the Attachment icon (usually a paperclip or plus sign).
- Select Gallery to choose the video you want to send.
- Before sending, you should see options to edit the video (crop, add text, etc.) and add a caption. Look for an HD button at the top of the screen.
- Tap the HD button.
- Choose HD Quality instead of "Standard Quality."
- Add your caption (optional) and send the video.
Choosing "HD Quality" sends a larger video file that retains more detail compared to the standard compression, but it will still be compressed to some extent. Be aware that HD videos will take longer to send and may consume more data.
While WhatsApp HD is better than standard, it's not the original resolution. For truly lossless transfer, consider using methods outside of WhatsApp, such as:
- Email: Send the video as an email attachment. Most email providers support large file sizes.
- Cloud Storage: Upload the video to a cloud storage service like Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive, and then share a link to the video with your contact.
Limitations of WhatsApp HD:
Even when selecting HD, WhatsApp still compresses videos, so some quality loss is inevitable. The "HD" option isn't actually full HD (1080p), but rather a higher resolution than the standard setting. The exact resolution will vary.
